The cabinet mounted step drivers are different from the Euro-card step drivers in the mounting of the drivers. Drivers without housings are usually used for OEM applications. Drivers with housings are used by OEM and end-users alike. Besides the standard 2/4-phase step drivers, Middex offers a one to one replacement for the no longer made 5-phase drivers D450/D550 from Sig/Berger-Lahr with its M450/M550 5-phase drivers. The latest addition is the BCD510.3 for 3-phase step motors. The drivers work by the bipolar constant current principle with pulse width modulation. This guarantees a high efficiency low noise operation. With the four-quadrant current regulator all existing step motors attain an extremely low resonance and quiet running condition. No more soft and hard steps thanks to a tightly regulated current buildup and decay in the motor coils, allowing a uniform transient stepping even in low step resolution. Some of the drivers offer resonance attenuation which critically affects the running and resonance behavior at low and mid rpm. Drivers with direct AC (indicated in the driver headings) power input reduce cost (no need for power supply only a transformer) and simplify installation. Supply voltages range from 20V to 160VDC, and 50V to 230VAC for up to 12 Amps/phase and a maximum pulse frequency of up to 100kHz. Besides the wall mounted types Middex offers also the Euro-Card drivers for rack mounting. Drivers are CE tested.

**WCD100 Note: The WCD100 series step motor drivers feature tremendous power. With up to 325VDC available at the motor coils the drivers produce torque and holding moments over 50 Nm (motor without gearbox). By eliminating the transformer, torque and dynamics are increase over 300% at high motor rpm's. Further benefits are reduced cost of materials as well as reduced weight.
